General

Can anyone use your facilities?

Yes, we are open to the public. We do have discounts for Macquarie Uni Staff / Students.

Can we hire tennis racquets & balls?

Yes, we have hire out racquets for $5. We have balls for sale, but also have free balls for all players.

Can we play after hours?

Yes, please book ahead online and we can have the court ready for you.

Can we wear anything to play tennis?

As long as it is correct sport clothing. Shoes will have to be non-marking tennis shoes for the hard courts. There is to be no hiking or spiked shoes on any surface.

Do you have a tennis shop?

Yes, come inside our clubhouse to view our selection of tennis racquets, clothing and tennis shoes.

Coaching

When can we have private coaching?

Private coaching is available Monday to Saturday. Subject to availability.

Are private lessons already structured or can make a request?

Yes, we cater to your tennis needs and we also have drills and specifics we work on.

How often should we get private coaching?

Depending on what level tennis player you are, we recommend about 1 lesson per week.

What surface can we get coaching on?

Any of our 3 surfaces that are available at the time of your lesson.

Are all your coaches TA qualified coaches?

We have TA qualified coaches, but we only hire the best coaches suitable for each job, regardless of a TA qualification.

Do you have to bring your own tennis racquet?

We have tennis racquets here to hire or if you wish to bring your own.

Competitions

What is an UTR tournament?

Universal Tennis Rating is a global rating system that promotes fair and competitive play across the tennis world. All players, regardless of age, gender, geography or skill level, are rated on the same scale between 1 and 16.50 based on actual match results.

My child is 11, can they play Under 14s?

Yes, your child can play in any age group, as long as they don’t exceed the age group year.

My child’s UTR doesn’t go up, do they have to play someone higher?

No, it depends on your score against your opponent, whether they are higher or lower. For more information

What kind of format do you play?

Depending on which tournament you have registered for.

Our Junior Round Robin’s are Best of 2 Fast 4 sets with a match tiebreak. You are commited to play 3 matches in your 3 hour timeframe.

All our other tournaments or matchplay are either 2 full sets & a match tiebreaker or a fll 3 set match.

Do we have to play every week of Round Robins?

No, Vince runs these events to encourage players to play more matches. He believes the best way to improve, is to play many matches.

The Junior Championship: The top 16 players who accumulate the most points qualify for the finals.

School Camps

How do I register my child?

What does the day consist of?

Our camps will run squad training from 9am – 11:30am with VBTA staff.

From 1pm – 3pm, we will have UTR verified matchplay against siilar level players. 

Can we register just for half a day?

Yes, you can come for either the squad training or just the UTR matchplay. Just email us your requests.

What should I bring?

The essentials. Hat, food, drinks and comfortble tennis attire. Also, if they have their own tennis equipment. We have tennis racquets for hire, if needed.

What happens when it rains?

We still accommodate for rain. Our coaches will run activities indoors. Such as, tennis specific training or tennis analysis.
