Head Coach and Academy Founder

A highly recognized elite coach with over 40 years’ experience, Vince has coached tennis professionals including Rennae Stubbs (qualification), Jamie Morgan (qualification), and numerous junior players (college scholarships). He has travelled with and coached alongside Tony Roche (16 GS), who is also a close friend and frequent visitor at the academy.

Fun fact: Loves telling jokes and ensuring everyone leaves with a smile!

Tomoko Barclay

Academy Manager

As the Academy Director, Tomoko’s vision and hard work over the last 30 years has helped shape the academy to what it is today. Her passion for the sport and running the business shows through her enthusiasm to take on all tasks big or small, whether it be answering emails to potential clients or organising tournaments and camps for both domestic and international students.

Fun fact: Loves animals and can be seen walking her dogs around the area daily!

– Liaising with all domestic and international clients
– Photography and media for all students

David Barclay

ATP Professional / Pro Coach / Mentor

As a touring professional, David spends most of his time traveling and playing tournaments on the ATP circuit, primarily across the Asia-Pacific region. During his training blocks back at the academy, he enjoys coaching young tennis players that are also looking to become professionals by providing them a mixture of technical and mental advice, helping them build their own successful careers.

Fun fact: “The ‘60s was the best decade for music, no contest.”

 – Loves coaching motivated young players looking to take their game to the next level

Yuko Takahashi

Junior Development Coach

Yuko is one of the most beloved and hardest working staff here at the academy. Her true passion lies in coaching beginner to intermediate students and teaching them the fundamentals and to gain an appreciation for the game. A gentle and caring soul, she is very capable of coaching both young students and adults who are looking to build or rebuild their games from the ground up. You will likely also see her keeping our clay courts in pristine condition so be sure to say hello as you walk by!

Fun fact: She holds two Masters’ degrees in Agriculture and Science Education from University of Meiji & Tokyo Gakugei University in Japan!

Lorenzo "Lolo" Pineda

Pro Coach / Stringer

Coming from a little island called Vanuatu, Lolo has been with the Barclay family since he was 15. Now 32 and spent time playing ITF’s to US College to coaching in Japan for 8 years.
He is an outgoing, funny and creative young man. He will always bring a good fun vibe and energy to his lessons and may even coach in french if you’d prefer!

Fun fact: Likes to spend his off time dancing or exploring the outdoors

Nikola Vucetic

Club Coach

Inspired by the likes of Novak Djokovic, decided to take tennis seriously at the age of 10. Been competiting at a high level over the course of my junior career and training with some of the best juniors in the country. Have a passion to help understand a players game, the ability to interpret the needs and wants of players, what drives them and what they want to achieve through the sport and in life.

Fun Fact: Speaks 8 Languages

Favorite sports to follow aside tennis are F1, NBA and Surfing.

Stevie Williams

Club Coach

Surfer hair & sand in places he’d never thought of. Stevie is a regular at VBT. A determined tennis player himself, Stevie is the most caring & considerate coach & person we’ve seen on a tennis court. His attention to detail is unparamount. Strives to help his students achieve their goals with a grand smile.

Fun fact: Knows his way around guitar strings and is also an avid surfer on the northern beaches

Ragheel Iyer

Manager of Operations

Another familiar face for all visitors, Ragheel has trained and worked here for several years now. He is extremely passionate about tennis and business and has combined his interests to manage the operations at the academy. Whilst most of his work is done off the court to ensure the academy continues to grow and achieve its targets, he also loves to have a hit and help to any of the students or casual visitors who are looking for advice on their game.

Fun fact: He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business with an Honours in Finance from UTS!
